Since the introduction of the Euro in the year 2000, many of the European Community countries have adopted this new currency. The central banks of each country specified time periods in which both banknotes and coins could be redeemed for the new currency. The table to the left details the deadlines for each country.
Due to the diminishing time left on the majority of currencies, it is imperative that charities and businesses take advantage as soon as possible. After the deadlines have been breached, as in the case of the French Francs and Italian Lira, the value plummets to almost nothing.
